Where production runs below, foreign object control matters more than anything else on the job. A dropped screw is not a housekeeping issue when it lands somewhere a product or an aircraft is going to be. Tool counts at the start and end of a shift, tethering where it applies, magnet sweeps across the work area and a debris containment plan all belong in the pre-job meeting.

Overhead cranes, process piping and clean areas beneath the deck also restrict where loads may be set. A roof structurally able to carry a stack of board almost anywhere may still have a dozen locations where nothing may be set at all, and the layout plan for that has to come from your maintenance people rather than from a guess.

A western exposure, over a very large target

Buildings on the western side of the Metroplex tend to meet hail more often than those east of downtown, and a roof measured in acres presents a great deal of surface to any storm that arrives. That combination argues for a documented baseline condition and a look after every significant event, rather than discovering three years later that the sheet was bruised across half the field.

Surveying something this large after a storm means test squares distributed across each elevation and each roof level, with counts recorded square by square. On a small building you can look at everything there is. Here the sampling method is the survey, and it has to be laid out properly or the findings will not hold up to anybody reviewing them.
